OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SERVICES IN PRIVATE PRACTICE DURING MOVEMENT CONTROL ORDER (MCO) 1ST JUNE 2021 – 14TH JUNE 2021

Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has announced on Friday, 28th May 2021 that Malaysia will go into a total nationwide lockdown for all social and economic sectors from 1st June 2021 to 14th June 2021. This announcement came after the country continued to record new highs in the number of Covid-19 infections and deaths, despite putting in place three weeks of moderate restrictions under the movement control order (MCO). Only essential economic sectors and services will be allowed to operate during this period.
As healthcare is one of the sectors allowed to operate, OT Malaysia has written to the Ministry of Health (MOH) as well as the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) on 31st May 2021, requesting permission for OTs in private practice to continue providing their services. We are very much concerned of the clients who are in need of OT services during this difficult time as well as the welfare of occupational therapists in private sectors.
As for that, we shall provide timely updates on this matter.
